“Anatomy, treasures and mummies” (When the dead speak to us)

Abstract

during the restoration of the Church of San Esteban in Cuéllar, in the archaeological intervention in the tombs of the church presbytery, 5 partially mummified bodies from the 15th and 16th centuries were discovered. I am talking about the anthropological study and the findings made, among them that of a true treasure, among the clothes of Isabel de Zuazo (wife of Martín López de Córdoba Hinestrosa, councilor of the town of Cuéllar), a collection of documents tied in two wrappers, in one of them there was a “book of hours” and in the other the largest set of bulls of indulgence found to date. Through these documents, unknown data very important to researchers have been discovered and we can say that if Doña Isabel was looking for immortality, she finally achieved it.
