The site of Galería (complex of Atapuerca, Burgos) has been interpreted up to now as a result of temporary occupations in the second half of the Middle Pleistocene, carried out by human groups of Acheulean technology. The lithic industry of Gallery would allow, according to published studies, to recognize a continuous and representative sequence of Iberian and Southern Europe Acheulean. The review we make in these pages, based on the results achieved in the field season carried out in 1982-1996 in the site, is based on the published information and the direct study of part of the lithic materials obtained in them and deposited in the Burgos Museum. Our conclusions do not confirm the exclusively Acheulean interpretation of the Galería industry and discard the possibility of recognizing an evolutionary sequence in the archaeological record recovered there.
