This article addresses an outreach project established with the purpose of democratizing science. In 2021, a scientific dissemination program focusing on archaeology and history was launched for individuals affected by Alzheimer's disease, developed through a collaboration between the Spanish School of History and Archaeology in Rome (EEHAR-CSIC) and Caritas Roma-Casa Wanda. Over a two-year period, more than 70 individuals, including patients, companions, and caregivers, participated in this initiative.
The methodology, based on multi-sensory interventions, consistently adhered to the same framework. Following a brief theoretical presentation utilizing objects designed to stimulate diverse senses, a workshop was conducted where participants created artifacts related to the subject matter. These sessions were carried out within a welcoming and inclusive environment.
This paper presents some of the initial activities organized within the framework. We outline the implemented activities, the pedagogical tools employed, as well as the qualitative and quantitative evaluation systems utilized. The findings demonstrated significant levels of engagement, concentration, and communicative expressiveness among the participants.
