This paper is intended to approach the career of the Canarian playwright, Orlando Hernández Martin, to the scientific community. It also pretends to emphasize his contribution to the dramatic genre and the influence of his work in the society of his time. Thus, pieces of work which have been performed as well as published and unpublished works have been taken from the personal file of the author for their analysis. It has also been necessary to check the press of that time (second half of 20th century) in order to introduce dates when the works were premiered and the acceptance by both the critics and the audience.
