Abstract

Paolo Sarpi’s work Considerazioni sopra le censure della Santitá di papa Paolo V contra la Serenissima Republica di Venezia del P. M. Paulo da Venezia dell’Ordine de’Serviti (1606) is analized with the aim of exposing the historiographical innovations that his approach to law and custom, both as sources for the reconstruction of the past and as weapons in the political struggles of the time, implied.
