Towards the implementation of a gender diversity perspective in the practice of Social Work with transgender people

This article addresses the needs and good practices in the psychosocial intervention with transgender people, a reality on which there are more and more studies, although it is not a highly explored field. It explores the problems and needs of this highly stigmatized group, as well as the psychosocial intervention with them, through in-depth interviews with professionals who have experience dealing with them in different areas (prostitution, homelessness, attention to the LGTBI+ group…). The results obtained show the need for the application of the gender and sexual diversity perspective in the psychosocial interventions carried out with these people, the perspective of the professionals on the needs of the current psychosocial intervention, such as the need for more training, and essential aspects and proposals for improvement in the intervention, such as plans for the prevention of mental health problems.
