Alfonso Mateo-Sagasta is one of the most popular authors of the present Spanish literary panorama. His last novel, Caminarás con el sol, approaches one of the most debated episodes of the Spanish and Latin American history by adopting the point of view of a man, Gonzalo Guerrero, who decided to renounce to his own culture in order to become a Mayan warrior. The aim of this article is to analyze the main thematic and stylistic features of Mateo-Sagasta’s novel and its approach to the specific historical period.
