The evolution of means of transport in Gijón:
from the implementation of the railway to the arrival of the bus

The article aims to carry out a study of the most relevant means of transport for Gijón, the first industrial town in Asturias, with the goal of publicizing its evolution and the impact they have had on its development. Although there is previous research that analyzes each of them in a particular way, here they are examined together, also considering the infrastructure necessary for its implementation and how it influenced the urban fabric. The tour begins in the period of industrialization, since it is the moment in which the railway arose, a milestone in the history of transport.
