Folk tales have survived to our days thanks to orality and written versions, but tradition should not only be identified as orality and writing, since it includes, also, the ability to take advantage of new languages. There are many film and television adaptation of these stories, which offer the point that the viewer previously knows the themes and motifs and they appreciate the variations and audiovisual solutions that those new versions offer. Among the many adaptations we can find in our screens, we have chosen the TV series The Storyteller (1987-1988), in order to develop an analysis that determines whether or not the mass media are up to the task when it comes to adapting folktales in the current times.
