Fairytales have evolved throughout centuries, adapting to the needs of each age and losing—in the case of children's literature—their symbols and initial functions. In the last few years, a series of retellings that recover the original and universal symbols of fairytales stand out—with the pertinent modifications in order to adapt those original tales to the sociocultural needs of the moment. This essay aims to compare the symbols from the original versions of "Little Red Riding Hood" and one of its current retellings.
