Abstract

The article explores the development of the narrative space in Luis Mateo Díez´s trilogy, El reino de Celama. With a critical and theoretical support, it explains the intrinsic relationship between space and its inhabitants, and states that there is an implicit differentiation between two Celamas that are separated by time, but still coexist in the same space. Each of these Celamas would correspond with two different values: memory (light), and oblivion (darkness).

    Soy licenciado en Filología Hispánica por la Universidad de Valladolid, y doctorado en literatura española por la universidad de Cincinnati (Usa). Actualmente trabajo como profesor de literatura en la Universidad de las indias occidentales (Trinidad y Tobago). He publicado varios artículos de investigación, como por ejemplo "El Lápiz del Carpintero: la voz de los silenciados" en la revista siglo XXI y dos novelas: El tren gris, con la editorial Jirones de azul; y El vendedor de mariposas, con la editorial Izana. Esta última fue seleccionada finalista en el premio Nadal 2012.
