Notes for the Historic-Thematic Recreation of the Spanish "novela corta": About the Female Writers in «La Novela del Sábado» (1953-1955)

Abstract

In order to contribute to the „recreation‟ and update of the critic and the history about such an elusive genre as it is the novela corta, specially the one developed in Spain in the 20th century, it is the aim to complete some of the theoretical gaps. For instance, the related one to the dating of its large production stage, by extending the temporary arch until the middle of the 20th century. In relation to this fact, it is important to take into account other issues such as the genre‟s adaptation to the literary environment from half of the century, the reception of the previous novelas cortas‟ authors concerning the current canon in Franco‟s regime or the participation of Spanish writers in the same context. The evolution could be made out thanks to the own percent increase of women‟ participation, specially, by means of tracking through an outstanding literary collection: La Novela del Sábado (1953-1955).
