Abstract

The novel Cold Skin by Albert Sánchez Piñol is configured as a novel space around the border between civilization and barbarism, the boundary between Numano and otherness. The analysis raises reflects on this narrative, which refers to the nineteenth-century novel of adventure and their conceptions of romantic hero and the other.

    Doctor en Teoría de la literatura y del arte y literatura comparada por la Universidad de Granada (España), con el apoyo de la beca CONACYT/Fundación Carolina. Es profesor-investigador de la Facultad de Letras de la UMSNH (Morelia, México) desde 2009. Pertenece al Sistema Nacional de Investigadores con el nivel I. Coordina el Doctorado Interinstitucional en Arte y Cultura y el Cuerpo Académico Estudios sobre Literatura, Arte y Cultura. Es miembro del Registro CONACYT de Evaluadores Acreditados (RCEA) en el Área 4 “Humanidades y de la Conducta”. Ha publicado, entre otros, los libros: Que todo lo consume hasta el silencio. Estudios sobre la narrativa de una frontera escindida (Ediciones de la Noche, 2013, ensayo); De la ficción o de por qué llamar a las cosas por su nombre (Granada, 2009, ensayo); Miro la bestia sonreír (México, 2002, cuentos) y La máquina (Universidad de Granada, 2007, teatro), además de haber colaborado en diversas revistas académicas y participado como ponente en congresos internacionales en Polonia, España, Italia, Portugal y México.
