This article examines the intertextual relationship between Os Lusíadas (The Lusiads) of Camões and Soledades (Solitudes) of Góngora. The Cordovan poet, who contributed his first published poem to the preliminaries of one of the first translations of this epic work into Spanish, took the Portuguese poet’s work as a model for the composition of many of his poems. Beyond the influence Camões had on Góngora, the imitation of textual, thematic and linguistic features is evident in the text of Soledades.
