Noise is a Loaded Gun of Violence: Thunder and Agression in Santo remedio of Rafael Courtoisie

Abstract

This paper aims to study the implications which shows the phenomenon of noise connected to the violent act in the novel Santo remedio (2006) of Rafael Courtoisie. From a literary perspective, one comes to diverse disciplines as the sociology or the art in search of the links that connect noise and violence in the contemporary society, specially in the postmodernism. Likewise, theoretical as Julia Kristeva or Michel Foucault complete a theoric map that claims of explaining the micropolitics carried out by the protagonist of the work, who ends up by infecting of abject bodies his building. The hypothesis of the paper resides in connecting the violent acts done by Paul Green, protagonist of the novel, with the constant submission of his body and mind to the noise, from every aspect.

  • Borja Cano Vidal, University of Salamanca
    Borja Cano Vidal (Cáceres, 1992) es graduado en Filología Hispánica (2014) por la Universidad de Salamanca, donde recibió el título de Máster en Literatura Española e Hispanoamericana, Teoría de la Literatura y Literatura Comparada (2015). En esta misma institución, realiza actualmente su tesis doctoral en el programa Español: investigación avanzada en Lengua y Literatura. Es miembro colaborador del Instituto de Estudios Medievales y Renacentistas (IEMYR) y pertenece al Comité Editorial de la revista Cuadernos de ALEPH, donde además realiza labores de community manager. Ha coordinado y participado en diferentes actividades I+D+I, como cursos extraordinarios o proyectos de innovación docente. Asimismo, es miembro del proyecto Felicidad y literatura: eficacia social del discurso literario, financiado por la Conserjería de Educación de la Junta de Castilla y León. Desde el curso 2013/2014, ha participado en diferentes congresos y reuniones a nivel nacional e internacional y ha publicado algunos de sus trabajos en diversas revistas científicas de impacto.
