Utilidad de la belleza de Katheleen Raine
Abstract
Enmarcados en la defensa de una estética y, en general, de una filosofía (neo)platónica, los tres ensayos que conforman Utilidad de la belleza —“Sobre el símbolo”, “Sobre lo mitológico” y “Utilidad de la belleza”— suponen también un empeño por defender y reivindicar un tipo de arte, formalista y burgués, que tras la Segunda Guerra Mundial y a causa del auge del materialismo en Occidente y del Realismo Social en el mundo geográfica o políticamente soviético había entrado en decadencia en toda Europa.
