Morirás lejos by José Emilio Pacheco, a Novel to Come
Abstract
This article presents a way to get into the reading of Morirás lejos (“You Will Die Far Away”), the only novel written by the Mexican poet José Emilio Pacheco. In the novel are displayed important features of the narrative structure, being emphasized the possible characters, potential narrators and virtual spaces where the story is developed. The novel can be seen as compilation of notes and drafts, in the sense that it is a deliberately unfinished narrative speech. The settlement of this proposal allows to support the idea of facing a non-ending novel, a novel that is in the writing process, a novel to come. In a nutshell, in Morirás lejos are told some moments of the history of the persecution of the Jewish people, and a merely fictional story in which the characters are eme and Alguien. A third story is woven throughout the text, and this is the story of the writing process of Morirás lejos.Downloads
