Big urban projects and competitivity between cities: A reflection on the criterions of valuation

In this article is studied the competitivity among cities in relation with the big projects of urban transformation, developed in some European cities during the last years. The only purposes of these big projects are to get a better quality of life and the first posilions in the competiton among the urban centres. In that way, Corinna Morandi analizes the results of two investigations directed to value the competitive advantages of severa! euopean cities and the success of severa! recent big urban projects. Both investigations are studied from a critic attitude, which connect the main and minor success of the actived process with the positive or negative effects produced in the different categories of city users and in the hall urban system The article is closed with a revision of so me of the big urban projects that were done in Milano in the last 20 years using the same scheme of the mentioned investigations.
