The urban planification as a joint instrument for a integrated policy of development of a regional centrality: Santiago de Compostela

The cities and territories depend on their way of articulation on the global economy, being an important point the capacity of each city to compete not only throughout the regional and nationallevel. In that way, the continuity of the urban centre, as multifuntional link spaces, is part of the urban poli tic being neccesary a city project. The case of Santiago de Compostela, studied in this article, shows an urban project considered to the potentiality of the city as a space for the interchange and meeting. Its proposal wants to exploit the positive effects of the compacity and continuity of the city to improve the relation among the parts and with the historic centre, as to diffuse the urban activity in the city, in order to achieve an integrated and conexionated city.
