Existing city and dreamt city: Considerations on the use of urban history for urban planning

In this presentation, there are two linked themes: The first alludes somewhat to the current state of Italian urbanism: some conceptial and methodological problems, related to the Plan, to the urban quality, to the existing city --that is, ultimately, that of the past where it advance towards today--, tho the matter of continuity as a determining factor for success and legitimacy of the urban Project, and the "genius loci" as the origin for this continuity.
