Abstract

As a survivor of those of us that taught Urbanism during the fifties I remember now how our education as architects was --then there was a teaching period-- we were plunged in the outmost confusion as one tried to define students what Urbanism was and what it ought to be. On the one hand, History taught us its "autonomy", even if that led to being outside of our chosen field; but also History and reason made us suspect its close relationship with Architecture.
