The mature of tourist destinations is presented today as a particular derivation of the general problem of the obsolescence of consolidated plots. Both Canary Islands and Baleares has been a pioneer in forming a legal framework and incentives that would allow the renewal. The success of the different initiatives has been uneven, finding in the laws 2/2013 and 9/2015, a change in the trend apparently positive. After the journey, and before the first results, there is a progressive disconnection with the territorial approach and the principles of sustainability with which the renewal was committed.
