Abstract

This article studies two central authors of the intraevangelical Eucharistic dispute of the mid-1520s: Martin Luther (1483-1546) and Ulrich Zwingli (1484-1531). We propose to see their central arguments in the matter and how, when thinking about Christ's body, the limits of the natural and supernatural order appear sometimes diffuse and sometimes diaphanous. This will allow us to observe not only the dissimilar positions around an important theological and political problem for religious culture at the beginning of Early Modern Europe, but also how the biblical hermeneutics and the physic conception of the world each author carries with them express the (dis)location of the created against the Uncreated.
