The development of a new nobility during the Trastámara time was accompanied by the patronage of Mendicant foundations. The convents, founded on the most important centers of their stately states, became poles of religious education and in places of memory of the lineage, and often the Dominican friars in defenders of the spiritual and political options from their lords.
