Erasmus is one of the leading characters in the culture of the Modern Age. His thinking and education were closely linked to the study of ancient authors. Roman orator and teacher Marcus Fabius Quintilian was one of the most important writers to Erasmus. This paper discusses the influence of Quintilian on Erasmus, especially in rhetorical and pedagogical aspects.
