From the analysis of wedding dowries in Évora at the beginning of 17th century we try to understand the codes that governed the city in terms of heritage management and social eproduction, as well as to analyze what remained of the city splendor (as testifi ed by the 1501 Charter) in light of the composition of dowries, both in a material and symbolic dimension.
