Abstract

This work, based on the Dissertation that the king ordered Joseph González to draw up his Last Will and Testament, sows that Philip IV did not create the Governing Board to avoid the future consolidation of the position of a royal favourite, as it is stated in the historiography, but because it was ordered so by law.
