Translating from Catalan to Valencian in the XVIIIth

The first known treatise on Spanish guitar dates, in its first edition, not preserved, from 1586 (Barcelona). The first Valencian edition dates from 1758 and, most likely, is based on a Girona edition of 1745. In the Valencian publication, the original supplement written in Catalan is replaced by a literal translation into Valencian. Between 1776 and 1820, this same small treatise saw a second Valencian edition. Here, the new supplement represented a free and abbreviated translation in a more vernacular version of Valencian. In both cases, the comparison between Catalan and Valencian versions allows the verification of the then existing differences between both languages.
