This paper focuses on the analysis of sources employed by Strabo in the 3rd book of his geographical work, dedicated to ancient Hispania, as well as on the way this author transmitted them. For understanding this particular point in all its extent, we must attend to the most important ideological and cultural trends that would conform his personality as a Hellenic author in the times of Octavian Augustus, that can be summarised in the literary movements of classicism and stoicism, both of which, in any case, maintained important coincidences between each other so that could harmonize in the author´s mentality. With a good understanding of these issues we will get closer to the authors transmitted, and will see the points of discrepancy and coincidence with Strabo.
