Domitian’s damnation memoriae during the reign of Nerva: the inscriptions of the province of Asia

The aim of this article is to analyse Domitian’s road inscriptions from the province of Asia which, after the Emperor’s death, have the name and the titulature of him changed for those of his successor Nerva. Furthermore, Domitian’s inscriptions from Asia which were not modified by Nerva as well as the performance in Asia Minor of the political tasks as emperors of Domitian’s father Vespasian and Domitian’s brother Titus are briefly analysed in order to understand the importance of the damnatio memoriae and contextualize Domitian’s fulfillment.
