This paper examines the most important episodes of the hispanic indigenous resistance in the narratives of the principal Historias Generales de España. Throughout this study, we shall show the validity of the interpretative model of the history of Spain, based on three fundamental features: invasionism, essentialism and disunity. We shall also discussed the influence of these heroes and traitors in the identity and national construction.
