Greek Street. The Greek Myth Visits the Underworld
Keywords:
Greek Street, Peter Milligan, Popular Culture, Comic, Greek Myths, Classical ReceptionsAbstract
The aim of this paper is to analyze the comic entitled Greek Street, by Peter Milligan. This comic is a complex and dark rewriting, set in the troubled streets of modern London’s Soho, of some of the most sinister plots of Greek tragedy, such as those of Oedipus and Medea. Thus, Peter Milligan’s work is an excellent example of the phenomena of classical reception in contemporary popular culture.
