Abstract

This article focuses on Vallés’s in libros Hippocratis de morbis popularibus commentaria from an historical point of view, as this great work constitutes one of the most accurate studies in Spanish Renaissance medicine. Medical commentaries that the author could have consulted are taken into account. However, there is also a specific focus on those texts that he could have not been able to refer to because of several reasons: the loss of the original Greek version (which nevertheless was available in the Arabic medieval translation) or the lack of a printed edition of the text might have prevented Vallés from having access to these valuable texts.
