Estudio de γάρ como marcador del discurso (Pro corona de Demóstenes)

Abstract

This paper studies γάρ as a discourse marker in a corpus of classical Attic Greek, the speech Pro corona by Demosthenes. Γάρ introduces informative sections both on a local and on a global level. In the former it adds complementary information whilst in the latter it indicates the introduction of a new topic as a development of introductory information. The common function of γάρ in the two groups is to mark the information it hosts as supplementary.
