This paper claims that the character of the Pentapolis princess in Historia Apollonii Regis Tyri, which does not appear in the archetype text, is called Architrastes in recension B. The special syntactical conditions of the contexts where the character is named caused the interpretation and consequent lexicalization of the genitive Archistratis in the feminine proper name Archistrates, identical to the name of the king. Consequently, if the thesis is correct, this is therefore the princess's name in the recension B, as the collated manuscripts show. The paper thus focuses on the passages mentioning the princess in both recensions A and B to continue with confronting this evidence with the readings in the recension C, along with those other cases in the study where daughters are mentioned.
