Openings and Endings in Aristophanes’s Speeches

Abstract

The openings of Aristophanes’ speeches allow establishing three different models: vocative, particle, and subordinate clause. The endings, instead, do not offer such a clear pattern. It must also be noticed that similar characteristics are present in the Hippocratic treatises and in ancient forensic speeches.
