Abstract

This article aims at clarifying the biographical profile of two humanists who often were mixed up because they had the same name and first name and both were canons of Leon’s Cathedral. Researches in the historical provincial Archives and Cathedral Archives in Leon confirm that they are not only two different people but they have family ties. Indeed, Antonio de Obregón y Cereceda, the author of Discursos sobre la filosofía moral de Aristóteles printed in 1603 was the grandnephew of Antonio de Obregón, the translator of Erasmus’ Precatio dominica. The inheritance is obvious concerning the canonicate in which Antonio de Obregón follows his granduncle and their writings.
