The aim of this paper is to show briefly some of the cases in which insects have been selected for different reasons as the central subject of rhetoric and poetic compositions throughout the Greek literature, such as the retoric creations of Lucianus, Psellus and Demetrius Chrysoloras, and the poems of Christophorus Mitylenaeus and Manuel Philes.
