The Figure of Iohannes Dubravius and his Contributions of his De nuptiis Philologiae et Mercurii Edition and Commentary on Books I and II (Vienna 1516)
Keywords:
Martianus Capella, Dubravius, slavic humanism, textual criticismAbstract
The aim of this paper is to study the edition and commentary on the first two books of Martianus Capella’s work (Vienna 1516), made by Dubravius, with special attention to some loci critici to which the Bohemian humanist addressed his labour. Those loci have had special relevance in textual criticism and in recent interpretation of De nuptiis Philologiae et Mercurii. We also propose to praise both this text and its author, Dubravius, a humanist scarcely studied as within the context of Martianus Capella’s humanistic editions.
