This paper aims to develop an analysis on the integration of linguistic and translation contents with reference to the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language within the Italian context, as required by the new university curricula relating to careers in modern languages and linguistic and cultural mediation. In the last decades there have been significant changes in the field of teaching foreign languages. In this new framework, language and translation no longer have to be placed in watertight compartments. Instead, the key to effective teaching can be found in its authentic integration.
