Speech act strategies of the act of thanking: Comparative study of Spanish and Arabic

In this work we present the results of a contrastive study on the performance of the expressive speech act of gratitude in Spanish and Arabic, this speech act is not only one of the most used in our daily interaction, but it constitutes a privileged space for the analysis of the relationship between courtesy as a norm of social conduct and language, to do this, we must consider the variability of sociocultural courtesy from one culture to another. The objective of our study is the contrastive observation and paralinguistic analysis of the strategies used by native Spanish and Arabic speakers.
