The end of impunity? Analysis of the new initiative of the European Parliament regarding Human Rights and business

On March 10th, the European Parliament approved a proposal addressed to the Commission to develop a binding Directive that establishes obligations for companies in relation to due diligence on human rights, the environment and corruption. This document was announced as the end of business impunity, but is this statement correct? To answer this question, this article develops the importance of human rights in the European Union, studies the main existing mechanisms in the field of business and human rights and analyzes in depth the aforementioned Directive.
