The conduct required by the constitutional duty to work

In this commentary we are interested in the meaning of the duty to work stated in the Spanish Constitution and many others at an international level. We will take as a starting point the predominant doctrinal skepticism regarding the legality of this duty to ask ourselves if, contrary to what some authors maintain, it is possible to determine the conduct required by this constitutional provision. We will find the answer to this question in the political-constituent meaning of this duty: the obligation of material self-sufficiency of each citizen and to contribute to the common good. From this premise, we will resolve that such duty imposes, in general, the execution of a lawful economic activity and demanded by the market.
