Sociology of American identity: what has united them and divides them today
Abstract
¿Está en crisis EE.UU.? ¿Saben los estadounidenses quién son y qué les une? ¿Cuál es el modelo social estadounidense y cómo se socializan sus gentes? EE.UU. ha sido un país pionero de la Modernidad y gran potencia de la Contemporaneidad, siendo capaz de recibir oleadas migratorias e integrar con éxito multitudes de comunidades en grandes áreas urbanas, de organización social compleja y gran movilidad, dando lugar a una ciudadanía efectiva y referente para otros pueblos (tal como aprendían los niños estadounidenses en sus escuelas al recitar cada día su pledge of allegianceo saludo a la bandera).
