The linguistic landscape of León: a proposal for understanding the use of forms of address

Research into linguistic landscape (LL) allows us to create specialized corpora for working on different linguistic phenomena in the classroom. In this article, we focus on the use of polite forms of address and analyze their potential for exploitation based on real samples, which offers us a multidimensional view of the signs of LL. We thus propose a teaching sequence based on the data-driven learning (DDL) approach, in which teachers and students collaborate in the construction of a corpus. This combination of fieldwork, linguistic analysis, and teaching activities promotes a more contextualized, meaningful, and sensitive approach to teaching Spanish that considers the internal diversity of the language.
