Conocí a Pedro Marcos en Íscar: había fallecido el abuelo farmacéutico de Amparo, mi esposa, y nos hizo la visita reglamentaria para cambiar la titularidad de la farmacia. En ese acto, fui descubriendo las habilidades de Pedro como mentor y, sobre todo, su exquisito trato humano. Estamos en 1970. Al preguntarme por mis inquietudes le comenté mi pasión por el laboratorio clínico. No lo dudó ni un momento: la tesis doctoral te ayudará en tu formación académica y profesional. Si te parece bien hablaré con el Profesor Alberola para que puedas hacer la tesis en su departamento de Química Orgánica. Y es así como ejerció de mentor conmigo.
