Author Biography

    María José Alonso Veloso. After completing the Ministry of Education’s professional university researcher training (FPU), she was awarded a doctorate in Hispanic Philology at the University of Vigo (2003). The majority of her postdoctoral career has been spent at the University of Santiago de Compostela, where she is associate professor since 2015. She initially joined this academic institution as a «Juan de la Cierva» researcher (2004); afterwards, she won two different competitive contracts as a senior researcher: «Parga Pondal» (2007), which led to her being given the accreditation of «research excellence» of the national program «I3» in 2012, and «Ramón y Cajal» (2012). She has been a visiting researcher at the University of the Sorbonne (Paris IV), the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and the Autonomous University of Madrid. She has collaborated as a visiting professor at the University of Siena, Italy, and guest professor on the Master of Theatre and Performing Arts, University of Vigo. Since the PhD stage, she is a member of the «Francisco de Quevedo» research group, directed by Professor Alfonso Rey, which specializes in the critical and annotated editing of Quevedo’s works. Her research focuses on 17th-century Spanish literature, in three areas: literary studies, critical editions, and philological annotation. She has participated in 16 research projects (four of them under her direction), mostly with national funding and centering on critical and annotated editions of the complete prose and lyrical works of Quevedo. She is the author or co-author of approximately one hundred publications, including monographs, critical and annotated editions, articles in academic journals, book chapters and the coordination of collective volumes. She has also been engaged in the evaluation of research projects and articles in specialized journals.
