In this article, we reflect on an episode of Captain Underpants to consider the knowledge and competencies of a good teacher who, in a school, faces the task of providing learning opportunities in mathematics to their students. The parallels of the selected episode with reality are unsettling. In it, teachers at Jerome Horwitz Elementary School are made to teach a subject they are not familiar with, outside their specialty, leading to absurd situations that become an excuse to replace them with robots.
