Poetry of the present: ten poems by Arcadio Pardo (1928- )

We present the translation of ten poems from the Castillian poet Arcadio Pardo carried out by Deborah Anne Dietrick Smithbauer (1952-2020) in the summer of 2019. Let us consider this article a homage to her professional competence, generosity and discretion.
For almost fifty years she lived in Valladolid, feeling the Castillian plateau as home and the Spanish language as her intelectual destiny. We will always remember her friendship and integrity. In her memory we evoke these verses of a bright, wider horizon:
And you feel part of this new homeland.
This is also our territory. […]
Yes, it is. Because homeland is all
branch, all tide, all mount,
sea all.
And we will have to bloom all around.
