Proposal and verification of the model for document translation of Spanish legislation into Chinese: a case study of the Companies Law

This paper focuses on finding and verifying a valid model for the translation of legislation from Spanish to Chinese based on the Spanish Companies Law as the study corpus, with the aim of making concrete proposals for legal translation between the two languages/cultures. Considering the cultural differences between Spanish and Chinese law, as well as the characteristics of both legal languages, the entire translation process is reflected in four stages: analysis of the legal framework and the communicative situation of the original text, analysis of legal and linguistic aspects, documentation, and translation and revision. In this process, particular emphasis is placed on the study of terminology. Specifically, we address difficult linguistic phenomena and introduce the «terminological entries» (Prieto and Orozco-Jutorán, 2015) as a tool to analyze the culture-bound terms.
